Tom Buhrow has been Programme Director at WDR since July 2013. Prior to this, he presented the news programme ‘Tagesthemen’ from 2006 to 2013. Mr. Buhrow studied History, Political Science and Rhenish Regional Studies at the University of Bonn from 1978 to 1984. This was followed by an editorial traineeship with WDR in Cologne, where he subsequently worked as an editor and also took over co-responsibility for creating the news programme ‘West 3 Aktuell’. Between 1990 and 1992, Tom Buhrow was programme presenter for ‘Aktuelle Stunde’. In October 1992, he joined to WDR’s ‘Tagesschau’ editorial team in Cologne as ARD reporter. From 1994 to 1999, he was correspondent at ARD´s studio in Washington and, after a period as correspondent at the ARD studio in Paris, returned to the US to head its Washington studio.
